Police officer’s first words after being attacked by knifeman heard in body cam footage

Distressing body cam footage has been released of the moment two Northampton police officers were attacked by a knifeman as they attempted to apprehend him.

Gordon Finnlayson, 39, was holding a Stanley knife, and repeatedly ignored pleas from the officers to stay back, before lashing out and attempting to slash them.

“Have I been stabbed?”, one officer can be heard saying as she’s knocked to the floor.

Both escaped serious physical injury, and Mr Finnlayson has been jailed for six years for attempted GBH.
