New South Wales farmers are plagued by unfathomable levels of mice
Farmer Graham Jones is among thousands of farmers in New South Wales and other parts of Australia dealing with a mouse plague that the state government describes as "absolutely unprecedented.”
This video shows his grain sheds overrun by rodents, which swarm in at night and cover the grain in a seething mass.
Jones’ sheds are storing 3,000 tonnes of wheat after heavy rains relieved years of drought and brought bumper crops. But the harvest also provides ample food for the mice, boosting their fast reproductive cycle.
Jones says the rodents came in February and “just bred and bred.”
