Mitch McConnell, the longest-serving Senate leader in history has announced on 28 February 2024 that he will step down from his position in November.

McConnell, who turned 82 last week, mentioned his mourning of his wife’s youngest sister. In his speech McConnell stated “One of life’s most underappreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on to life’s next chapter.”

While Mitch McConnell’s path to becoming party leader was met with a lot of winding roads, he was clear in his statement that he is proud of what he accomplished while in office.

While reminiscing on his life’s work within the United States Congress, he mentioned that he feels confident in Joe Biden’s ability to run America.
