Martin Lewis issues warning to almost one million people not claiming vital payment
Martin Lewis has warned nearly one million people are missing out on pension credit.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the MoneySavingExpert suggested the government’s push for more pensioners to claim the credit is “a real problem” because there are still around 800,000 people who may struggle because the process is too difficult.
“I’ve been talking about pension credit until I’m blue in the face over the last decade, trying to get people who are eligible to claim it,” Mr Lewis said.
“Some people are scared of filling in the forms, some people who find it too difficult, some people who just don’t know about it and some people who are too proud to take it.”
He added that many elderly pensioners with issues like dementia will never claim the credit.
