Roof of east London nursery collapses overnight
The roof of a day nursery in east London has collapsed overnight.
Footage provided to The Independent shows firefighters working on the damaged roof on Friday 16 June, after it collapsed around 8pm on Thursday evening.
Other videos also show the extent of the damage to the roof.
There was no one inside the nursery at the time of the incident, one local resident has confirmed.
The Crossharbour Montessori Day Nursery is located on East Ferry Road, Isle of Dogs.
It is part of the Baltimore Wharf residential development in Canary Wharf.
“We are grateful that no one was hurt, but we are shocked and upset. We do not understand how this can happen with a new building only 10 years old,” a statement from Crossharbour Montessori Day Nursery, provided to The Independent, read.
“We are expecting a thorough investigation from the landlord and local authorities. We need to ensure that the building is safe before we let anyone in.”
