‘Pathetic point scoring’: Liz Truss squirms when questioned on lettuce lasting longer than her
Lizz Truss squirmed as she was questioned over a lettuce lasting longer than her time as prime minister.
Ms Truss. who lasted just 49 days as prime minister, claimed the lettuce reference was “just pathetic point scoring” when she was questioned by BBC News political editor Chris Mason on Monday (15 April).
Mr Mason said: “Your time as prime minister left the UK an international laughing stock.”
Ms Truss responded: “I don’t think that’s true.”
“But, all the stuff about lasting less than the lettuce?”, Mr Mason asked.
“This is just pathetic point scoring,” Ms Truss replied.
“This is the kind of thing that obsesses the London elite.”
