Joe Biden’s commitment to Afghan allies “continues to stand,” Karine Jean-Pierre said as The Independent questioned the pace at which those who served with the US are being processed to enter the country.

The Independent’s White House correspondent Andrew Feinberg questioned the press secretary on allies who are still waiting to be granted safe haven, such as the Afghan pilot who served with British forces.

The war veteran, who went on sorties planned and designed by British and US commanders, is among those who have fled to the UK on small boats and are now being threatened with deportation.

The White House has promised to investigate whether the pilot would be eligible for asylum in the US as the UK government continues to stall.
