‘Worst election I’ve stood in’: Labour’s Jess Phillips met with boos as she wins Birmingham seat
Jess Phillips was met with jeers and boos as it was announced she had won her seat in Birmingham Yardley by a narrow margin.
The Labour MP curtsied awkwardly as the results announcer was forced to tell the audience to calm down.
“I see that we’re going to continue with the class that we had during the campaign”, she remarked in her speech.
“I understand that a strong woman standing up to you is met with such reticence...This election has been the worst election I have ever stood in.”
Ms Phillips won with 11,275 votes.
