Moment billionaire exits SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft for first-ever private spacewalk

This is the moment billionaire Jared Isaacman conducted the first ever privately-funded spacewalk as part of SpaceX's Polaris Dawn mission.

The 41-year-old stepped out of the Crew Dragon spacecraft just before midday to carry out suit tests against a mesmerising backdrop of planet Earth.

As he took his first steps, he said: "Back at home we still have a lot of work to do, but from here it looks like a perfect world."

The main aim of the endeavour is to test SpaceX’s new extravehicular activity (EVA) astronaut suits, which have been designed to eventually take astronauts to the Moon, Mars and beyond.
