New raging wildfires sweep through Greece as residents and beaches evacuated
Residents and beaches have been evacuated as firefighters tackle further wildfires sweeping through various parts of Greece.
Civil protection authorities have warned of an ‘extreme’ fire risk in the region around Athens and other parts of southern Greece. Fires continue to burn out of control in northeastern Greece near the port city of Alexandroupolis.
This footage, captured in the early hours of Sunday morning, shows the extent of the fire in the Evros region in the small village of Loutras, close to the city of Alexandroupolis.
