Watch: First RAF flight carrying 21 tonnes of aid for Gaza sets off from UK to Egypt
The first RAF flight carrying 21 tonnes of aid for Gaza has set off for Egypt, the government has said.
“C-17 aircraft is en route... to deliver vital humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians, including 76,800 wound care packs, 1,350 water filters and 2,5560 solar lights,” the Ministry of Defence posted on X/Twitter.
Last week, Rishi Sunak announced he was increasing UK support by £10m, before announcing a further £20m on Monday to meet the needs of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which has been subject to bombardment from Israel as Tel Aviv retaliates following Hamas’s attack on 7 October.
