Moment Essex man arrested for stabbing stranger in front of terrified schoolchildren

Watch the dramatic moment a violent offender was arrested after stabbing a stranger in front of terrified schoolchildren in Essex.

John Garrett, 55, attacked a man at a bus stop in Tiptree in broad daylight after stealing two bottles of alcohol from a Shell garage on 11 July 2023.

He stabbed his victim in the neck three times and left him in a life-threatening condition as paramedics rushed to the scene.

Six people - including children leaving school - witnessed the violent attack.

Garrett fled the scene and returned home, where he was arrested shortly after.

He has since been sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison, having pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and robbery.
