China elephants: Two youngsters drop out of herd’s trek to enjoy a swim
The two young elephants that dropped out of the migrating herd at the end of April have been spotted playing in a river.
In video footage, the pair can be seen enjoying the muddy waters in their original habitat of Pu’er, in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, to stay cool.
The migrating elephant herd has caught the world’s attention for their 500-kilometre march. Authorities have been monitoring the migrating animals to make sure they are safe and do not stray into urban or populated areas.
