Cambodia school closed after thousands of unexploded civil war-era bombs found under classrooms

A Cambodia high school has been forced to close after thousands of explosives were discovered on site.

According to reports, some 2,000 unexploded devices dating back to the civil war era were found by the Cambodian Mine Action Centre staff on the grounds of Queen Kosomak High School.

Students have been told to stay away until the clean-up is complete, which is expected to take two days.

Cambodia's eight-year civil war ended in 1975, however, it continue to suffer from the aftermath.

According to The Halo Trust, landmines scattered across the country have killed 64,000 people since 1979.
