Al Capone’s prized possessions to be sold at auction including mob boss’s favourite gun
Al Capone prized possessions are to be sold at auction.
The three living granddaughters of the famed prohibition-era-Chicago mob boss are selling some of his belongings this October.
Among the 174-lot inventory, which is valued at up to $715,000 (£519,00), is a diamond-encrusted pocket watch that has a starting bid of $12,500 ($9,000).
Capone's favoured pistol, which he carried for personal protection, is valued at more than $100,000 (£73,000).
There will also be a three-page letter to his son Sonny, written in October 1931 from San Francisco's Alcatraz prison during the same month he was sentenced to 11 years in prison for tax evasion.
