Critically-endangered red wolf litters welcomed at US zoo
Two litters of critically-endangered red wolves have been born at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro.
Parents Marsh and Roan welcomed three pups, and Denali and May had a total of six as part of the zoo’s contributions to the American Red Wolf Safe programme which aims to maintain a health and viable population of the species under human care.
“Each pup is weighed, sexed, and identified by its white blaze chest patch. The veterinary staff checks the litters every two weeks to ensure everyone remains healthy,” the zoo said.
