Morning sickness breakthrough as Doctor Hilary Jones discusses possible cure for pregnant mothers
Scientists have uncovered why many women experience morning sickness during pregnancy, raising the prospect of a cure for the condition.
According to a study, babies produce a hormone that can cause severe sickness, known as hyperemesis gravidarum (HG). This discovery could lead to a potential cure.
Doctor Hilary Jones shared more about the breakthrough when he appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday (14 December).
He said: “Scientists might be able to block this hormone or reduce it in some way or sensitise a woman in some way before she’s pregnant so she doesn’t get sick during pregnancy itself.”
