Independent Women 2023: Who made it onto our first-ever influence list?

The Independent has released its first-ever list of the most influential women of the year, highlighting individuals from all walks of life.

Our list is made up of women who have a profound influence on the world around them - no matter what that influence may be.

It strays away from the usual model that praises women for being "empowering" or "inspirational," and doesn't shy from anyone who ruffles feathers.

Taking the top spot is Camilla, Queen Consort, followed then by Lioness Jill Scott and the shadow chancellor, Rachel Reeves.
