Watch: Terrifying spider catches and eats fish
Footage shows a terrifying giant fishing spider moments after it caught a sizable fish.
Standing by the water’s edge, the large arachnids will dangle their long limbs on the surface and monitor for any ripples.
Once detected, they can jump forward in a flash, catching the fish before them.
A quick-acting venom neutralises the meal before it can escape.
Jean-Pierre Veira, a conservationist and wildlife guide who shared the footage, said he found the spider in South America’s Suriname River.
