Coronation: Watch the moment King Charles is crowned

This is the historic moment King Charles III was crowned on Saturday, 6 May.

His Majesty became the 40th reigning sovereign to be crowned in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The Abbey has been used as the nation’s coronation church since 1066.

Footage shows the moment the Archbishop of Canterbury placed St Edward’s Crown on the King’s head in front of 2,000 guests.

The King’s coronation was a deeply religious ceremony steeped in symbolism and its prayers took the theme of “Called to Serve”, an attribute associated with the late Queen Elizabeth II.
