Lidl 2024 Christmas advert by Oscar-winning director gives heartwarming message

Lidl's 2024 Christmas advert, directed by Oscar-winning Tom Hooper, delivers a heartwarming message of giving.

In the video, a young girl sledging notices a boy unable to join in as he is too cold and only wearing a thin coat.

She then stops to help an elderly woman who has dropped her Lidl shopping bag and is rewarded with bells that grant wishes.

While her brother wishes for Brussels sprouts to turn into something sweeter, his sister wishes for the boy she saw to receive her gift instead of her — later revealed to be a woolly hat so he can participate.

The advert signals the return of Lidl's Toy Bank scheme which aims to collect more than 100,000 toys for charity partners to distribute.
