Amy Dowden reveals she didn’t check her breasts before cancer diagnosis and gives important message

Strictly’s Amy Dowden has revealed she didn’t check her own breasts until a cancer fundraiser event, as she made a plea for people to be more breast aware.

The 32-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, but revealed it was a trek in Pembrokeshire in 2022 with the charity Coppafeel that “saved her life”.

She said: “I was trekking and I met the most incredible people, some whom had been through breast cancer themselves. Hearing their stories made me realise I didn’t check my own breasts. There I am trekking, raising awareness, yet I wasn’t checking myself.”

This led to Amy checking her breasts once a month, as she urged men and women to check their breasts regularly.
