Moment blender explodes covering MasterChef contestant in boiling soup as she’s forced to quit challenge

This is the moment a blender exploded covering a MasterChef: The Professionals contestant in boiling soup.

Brazilian chef Cristina Maia, 51, needed medical treatment and had to pull out of the Signature Menu round of Tuesday night’s episode.

Judges said the accident happened after Cristina put hot liquid into a blender and when she opened the lid it shot out everywhere.

As soon as the accident happened one of the medical crew on set dashed over to assist her and held a cold towel to her chin where most of the damage was.
