London’s Leicester Square packed as cinema fans celebrate ‘Barbenheimer’ release
London’s famous Leicester Square was packed full of cinema fans on Friday 21 July, the first day of the Barbie and Oppenheimer screenings.
Many movie-goers will be jumping on the “Barbenheimer” phenomenon, watching both releases on the same day.
The two films feature radically different tones - Oppenheimer is Christopher Nolan’s three-hour biopic about the “Father of the Atomic Bomb” J Robert Oppenheimer, while Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, is adapted from the iconic toy franchise.
Many cinema fans came dressed in pink for the occasion on Friday, and some shared their thoughts on the film after watching on opening day.
