“Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition,” the statement read. “The show wishes her all the best for the future.”

A tribute montage was played on the show to highlight the Sherlock actor’s time on the show who was partnered with Giovanni Pernice.

Ms Abbington missed Saturday’s live show ‘due to medical reasons’.

Fleur East said: “Amanda, we are sending you all of our love.”
