From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. If you thought Trump couldn't be any more scary or unbearable to look at, then wait until you see what happened at a parade in Italy last weekend.

At the annual Viareggio Carnevale parade in the city of Viareggio, Tuscany, a gigantic incarnation of the president, wearing golden armour and brandishing a huge claw and Twitter-themed sword rolled, down the streets towering over the masses.

This highly intimidating vision was reportedly inspired by The Emperor of Mankind character from the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game.

The float was even animated with his arms and head, complete with a gold leaf crown, moving back and forth. It was all very intimidating and is guaranteed to give you nightmares for weeks.

Named 'The Master Drone', the float was created by Fabrizio Galli, who intended to mock the president and also provide comment on Trump's foreign policy.

Galli, whose other floats have mocked Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin, is quoted by Huffington Post as saying:

It’s a joke, but in fact he's trying to destroy nations with the economy instead of nuclear missiles.

This is one of the strongest actions let's say, that powerful people like Trump can use.

A description on the parade website refers to Trump as 'God Emperor Trump' and made several Warhammer references.

The supreme myth of having power over the whole universe. The first God Emperor Trump.

The parallelism with the dominant character of Warhammer 40K has never been more fitting, except that this is not a futuristic three-dimensional tabletop wargame but pure reality.

Donald wants to go back to the moon, travel to Mars and create the first space army. Ultras Marines? Mega Marines?

The time of intellectuals, philosophers and of old and worn culture is over. We have entered the era of fantasy, videogames and virtual life.

The dominant male par-excellence has arrived, democratically, and is now here, among us. The Master-Drone flies over the Viareggio boardwalk as we prepare to pay the price.

Trump's sword also bore the words 'Dazi Vostri' which reportedly translates as 'your taxes'. According to Time, Italians on social media said that this was a play on the phrase 'cazzi vostri' which roughly translates as 'none of your f**king business'.

Images and footage of the 'God Emperor' have since gone viral and have been shared all over Twitter, but Trump supporters seem to have missed the joke.

The parade is said to have existed since 1873, with other floats on display this year covering topical subjects like bullying, the apocalypse, plastic waste and the dangers to the environment, in a satirical fashion.
