The ranking shows the twenty most expensive seaside resorts in UK, based on the minimum price of a double room at a hotel of three or more stars.
The idyllic beaches of St Ives, favourite for surfers and sunbathers alike, will leave your pockets the lightest with a double room in costing at least £123, almost double that of a room in Aberystwyth. In fact, Cornwall has come out dearest of all the regions, making up a quarter of the list - St Ives, Falmouth, Padstow, Penzance and Bude all featuring in the top 15.
Head of Visit Cornwall, Malcolm Bell, has viewed the recent poll as a positive commentary on Cornwall’s successful tourist industry, commenting: “Cornwall is well loved and has a loyal fan base, and with such a broad offering, there’s something for every price bracket”.
Tenby is second at £107 and, although Aberyswyth comes in at number 20, it would seem Wales is another of the more costly counties with four resorts in the list overall. Equally, Devon also takes up a fifth of the list.
