Your support makes all the difference.York has come top of the Google Street View awards after its historic lane 'The Shambles', a tiny cobbled street which lies in the shadow of the city's famous Minster and dates back to the fourteenth century, was voted Britain's most picturesque street.
The north Yorkshire city did well overall, with two further streets scoring highly in the two other categories: Stonegate came second in the for best British street for fashion, while Fossgate was voted the third best street for food.
Bath, another well preserved and historic city, also did well, with Milsom Street scooping the top spot for fashion, and its grand Royal Crescent following closely behind the Shambles, as the second most picturesque British street.
Stockbridge High Street, Hampshire was voted top for food, with Edinburgh's The Shore coming a close second.
The Google Street View awards were created ahead of further photographs being added to Google's Street View tool, which enables users to navigate through towns and streets via 360 degree imagery.
Over 11,000 people voted from for the nation's best streets throughout last week, choosing from a shortlist compiled by experts.
