Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

As an antidote to the “nature deficit disorder” sometimes said to to be affecting British kids, the experience at Bosinver Farm Cottages couldn't be more effective.

Occupying a 30-acre farm and woodland site close to the sea near Saint Austell, they are firmly entrenched in the Great Outdoors: you can follow Farmer Dave to feed the animals and collect eggs from the hens, look out for wildlife and the Gruffalo on woodland trails, ride ponies, and light campfires, hunt bugs and build dens on the Wild Kids programme.

However, once you've left your wellies at the door, life inside the 20 cottages is laid-back and luxurious – not to mention unique. There are dog-friendly cottages, plush farmhouses, a converted chapel and a stylish eco-house with bells and whistles galore. Every family convenience is at your fingertips – from cots and highchairs to indoor soft play, a games barn and a pool. And for couples it's an enchanting spot too, for there are few places better to curl up and relax than by the log burner, and there’s even a decent local pub serving great food nearby – the Polgooth Inn – with live music and roaring fires in the evening.

Bosinver Farm Cottages won last year’s Visit England award for the UK’s best self-catering, and no wonder: come once and you might find yourself visiting every year, with kids… or even without.
