Big name – even bigger thrills. The winter sports area officially called Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn sprawls across 270km of slopes in Austria’s SalzburgerLand and even spreads into neighbouring Tirol. They call it the “Home of Lässig” – meaning it’s cool and laid back. You’ll find it easier to get around this season thanks to a new gondola at Hinterglemm. And starting this winter, you can broaden your horizons further with the new Ski Alpin Card to access the slopes at Zell am See-Kaprun, with a total of 408km of pistes to explore.

With 140km of blue runs, beginners have a huge playground at their feet as they improve their skiing. Excellent ski schools will soon fill young skiers with confidence as they work on their turns in a dedicated family area. If the slopes are too tame for daredevils, there are snowparks in Hinterglemm and Leogang – plus various minicross tracks and funslopes – to get the adrenaline flowing. And if you haven’t had enough skiing during the day, check out the night skiing at Hinterglemm and Leogang

If you’ve never experienced the sheer exhilaration of freeride before, Fieberbrunn is the place to give it a go – particularly with the help of an experienced guide. They’ll teach you the technique and take you to all the best back country spots. Ride the deep powder and you'll instantly see why it's part of the Freeride World Tour.

Grab a sledge and race down the many toboggan tracks spread around Skicircus, including a few that are floodlit at night.

Take winter hiking to a new level when you tackle the Baumzipfelweg, the highest treetop path in Europe. Take a snowshoe walk along snowy trails with gentle llamas as furry companions or, for an unforgettable experience, whoosh down the steel cable of Leogang’s Flying Fox XXL at speeds of up to 130km per hour.

When you need to refuel, relax in a traditional mountain hut and enjoy delicious Austrian cuisine that comes with superb panoramic views. Before you know it, it’s time for après-ski – choose from cool cocktail bars and cosy pubs to lively nightclubs where DJs keep things buzzing till the early hours.
