From isolated island resorts on Koh Samui, Thailand, to private game reserves in South Africa, I adore staying anywhere where I know I'll experience incredible moments.
One such moment happened in Pangkor Laut in Malaysia, a private resort situated on an island in the middle of a jungle. The Pavarotti suite has a bathroom with no ceiling so you can look straight up into the jungle's canopy. The flipside of such openness is that I learnt to my cost that the monkeys can enter your room – as they did and promptly raided my hat boxes.
One day, I'd love to have a boutique hotel of my own. Until then, I'll just have to indulge myself wherever and whenever I can.
