Expo 2010 launches May 1, with 70 million visitors expected to attend during the show's six-month run. May 4 also sees the reopening of a historic haunted hotel in England ahead of the Hamburg Port Celebrations which take place from Friday, May 7.

King Shaka International Airport Opens

Durban, South Africa

Opening a month in advance of the FIFA World Cup South Africa, which kicks off June 11, Durban's new international airport will dramatically expand transportation capacity in the region. Capable of handling larger planes, including the new A380, the airport is expected to handle 7.5 million passengers per year.
