Singapore's first casino resort opens January 20, promising new heights of color and entertainment as the country tries to regain tourism ground lost to its Asian neighbors. The inaugural Bahrain airshow in association with Farnborough takes off on January 21 and ASEAN countries meet in Brunei to discuss the future of tourism in the region.

The Festive Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, Crockfords Tower and Hotel Michael will open their doors, offering 1,350 rooms and 10 restaurants. The resort is Singapore's first "integrated resort" - a controversial new effort to increase the country's tourism appeal using casinos.

of Bahrain and Farnborough International Ltd have constructed a purpose-built site for this Middle Eastern event. Uniquely, the show has a restricted number of tickets and no exhibition halls - attendees visit luxury "chalets" owned by exhibitors to see products and demonstrations.
