This week saw Aloft open its first property in India, followed by another in quick succession. New hotels from major brands also opened their doors in Russia, Germany and the US.

Aloft's first opening in India is seen as a landmark achievement for the urban-inspired brand. Its new Chennai property features 130 loft-like rooms with nine-foot ceilings, oversized windows and walk-in showers and a pool.
