Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Lonely Planet has launched a new walking tour app for visitors to London to get close to the Royal Wedding experience before the big day.

The audio tour, available free from the iTunes store, follows the route that the newlyweds will take after the wedding ceremony on April 29.

It takes in 13 sites on the legendary route between Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace - regularly used for ceremonial processions - which is likely to be crammed with well wishers on the day.

Some of the most famous include 10 Downing Street, the Women of World War II Monument and St James' Palace, where William was resident for some of his childhood life.

Users can explore at their own pace using the location-aware map, skipping stops when necessary.

It's just one of several Royal Wedding travel apps which are now available in the iPhone App Store, and although Lonely Planet's excellent reviews suggests that it's likely to be among the best, there are several others for visitors to try.

Appstillery's iDo (£0.59/€0.99) allows fans to follow the wedding through quirky hand-drawn maps, while BlueYellow Media's Royal Wedding Essential Guide (£0.59/€0.99) offers additional royal trivia and photos.

RWedding (£0.59/€0.99) displays a map "tracking the position of the bride and groom" and even Buckingham Palace got into the Royal Wedding app game this week, launching an iPhone and Android guide to previous weddings through the years.
