From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

US boutique hotel brands Andaz and Joie de Vivre have both announced plans to stretch their wings over the next few years.

Hyatt, which owns high-end boutique brand Andaz, announced June 7 that the chain will open three new properties in China, India and the Caribbean Turks and Caicos Islands.

The 183-room property in China will be built in Sanya, a popular tourist destination currently experiencing a construction boom.

In India, the 323-room Andaz Delhi will open in 2013, offering a lounge, theme bar, two restaurants, spa, and fitness center.

In 2014, the 170 room Andaz Turks and Caicos will open on the central island of Providenciales, offering rooms as well as condominiums and villas for rental.

Andaz currently operates four properties in London, Los Angeles, New York and Miami and has several more openings planned in Amsterdam, Texas and Costa Rica.

On the same day, Joie de Vivre, which runs 33 properties in California, announced that it plans to expand to 50 properties across the US, targeting "gateway cities" such as such as NYC, Chicago, Miami, Seattle and resort markets.

The Joie de Vivre brand has proved adept at transforming older properties into trendy new destinations, pioneering the concept of the "Nouvelle Motel" and insisting on unique design for each establishment.
