From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Delta, the world's largest airline, has partnered with daily deals site LivingSocial in a move which is likely to significantly boost the number of destination deals for travelers.

The US carrier said July 29 that it has become the first website to offer LivingSocial deals which were targeted depending on the browser's destination, integrating the offers into its website.

LivingSocial provides limited-time deals offering discounts for consumers which are paid for by local businesses.

The partnership will mean that after booking a flight, customers are presented with personalized deals for where they are heading to, including offers such as hotels, car rental deals and restaurants.

Like most LivingSocial deals, they will be time limited, although armed with the knowledge of the Delta flight details, LivingSocial will select deals to ensure that they are valid through the passenger's travel plans and will continue to send "flash offers" on request.

LivingSocial's Doug Miller said that the partnership will extend the local deal experience passengers are used to at home to those on the move.

The partnership follows a high profile deal between Expedia and Groupon, seen by many as a watershed moment in the relatively young daily deals industry which will see it integrated far more with travel offers as a whole.

Although Delta is the first airline LivingSocial has worked with, it isn't the first time an airline has worked with an online discount company - Chinese airline Air China offered its own group-buying deal with Sina in June.
