Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Trip assistance app TripIt has been named the one mobile travel app to own at the 15th Annual Webby Awards.
TripIt, which allows travelers to collate and organize their travel itineraries, beat a host of other new apps to win the competition, widely regarded as one of the year's most prestigious.
Airbnb, Trip Journal, Kayak and the Conde Nast Traveller's City Guide series were all nominated for the Best Mobile Travel App category, but a spokesman for the Webbys said TripIt's victory was "testament to the skill, ingenuity and vision of its creators."
TripIt automatically pulls data from flight confirmation emails and other sources which are sent to it, arranging all travel into a master online itinerary which can be accessed with a variety of devices.
It displays all booking information in one place and can intelligently fill the gaps between travel plans with the necessary information, such as maps, directions and weather.
TripIt is a free service and is available for iOS, Android and Blackberry.
The Webbys also named Jetsetter as the best travel offering in the website category, selecting the private sale site above competition that included BBC Travel, Lonely Planet, New York Times Travel and Wanderfly.
The gala presentation of the awards will be streamed live on June 13. Check out the Facebook page for an invitation to watch http://www.facebook.com/thewebbyawards?sk=app_215952395085219 .
