Another major tourism event likely to boost Egypt's profile, World Tourism Day is organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization to promote the benefits of tourism around the world. This year's theme is "Tourism – Linking Cultures" and includes a photograph and Twitter competition.

51st Genoa Boat Show

Genoa, Italy
Genoa is one of the largest boat shows of the year, with thousands of boats and a full program of 'fringe' events to ensure it caters for every nautical fan in town. Some 450 debuts are expected, spread over three pavilions and two marinas.

Inaugural Doha Park opens

Doha, Qatar
This enormous cultural event is a new event designed to promote Qatar's tourism riches, with some 30,000 square meters of space given over to everything from cookery to athletics. The event is free of charge and will also be home to an impressionist art exhibition.

Legoland Florida Opens
October 15
Orlando, FL, USA
Legoland's latest outpost will be its largest ever, with 150 acres of park dedicated to the world's favorite plastic toy. There are more than 50 rides, including a special US-themed Miniland and a marina.
