New attractions at the Battle of Hastings battlefield and abbey will launch on Friday, ahead of the 950th anniversary on 14 October. English Heritage has added a new exhibition on the battle, and opened up two previously unseen areas. Visitors will be able to stand on the roof of the Great Gatehouse for the first time, and access the abbey’s dormitory, where Benedictine monks once slept. Fly like an eagle
This winter a new trip allows skiers to hit the slopes alongside former Olympic ski jumper Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards. Take to the skies
TripAdvisor has introduced a new airline reviews platform where passengers can share their experiences of any major airline. The website is also trialling Flyscore, which displays a score for individual flights, based on user reviews, the aircraft, in-flight amenities and the length of the journey. tripadvisor.co.uk
Spa quality
Baden-Baden gets a new luxury property next month, when Autograph Collection Hotels opens its latest outpost in the German spa town. Roomers Baden-Baden will have 130 rooms and suites, as well as a spa and a pan-Asian restaurant headed up by Berlin chef Duc Ngo. For those who want to dine or drink al fresco there will also be a lounge bar and rooftop garden, with views over the city. roomers.eu
Dino out
This Saturday, ZSL Whipsnade Zoo launches its new temporary attraction, Zoorassic Park. Open for six weeks, the prehistoric-themed area features life-size moving dinosaurs, fossil digging, activity trails and 'dinosaur keepers', who teach visitors about the creatures and the work ZSL is doing to prevent today’s animals from becoming extinct.
