Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Today...

STA Travel is revamping its stores, starting with a flagship in Sheffield. The new look shop features a giant colour-coded map, spinning globes at each advisor's desk and a welcome area (statravel.co.uk).

This week...

British Tourism Week gets underway on Monday, with a series of events including walks, fairs, talks and a Best of Britain and Ireland exhibition at the ExCeL centre in Docklands,

London (britishtourism week.com; also britainand irelandevent.co.uk). The best of the active travel world is showcased at The Outdoors Show at the NEC Birmingham from Friday until 29 March. The show will bring together a host of exhibitors as well as a number of live activities, from kayaking to climbing (outdoorsshowextra.co.uk).

In the diary...

Opening its doors on 30 March is the much anticipated W Hoboken in New Jersey. The decadent new hotel is one block from the Hudson River, two blocks from Frank Sinatra Park and comes with impressive Manhattan skyline views (Whotels.com/Hoboken). Meanwhile, Liverpool gains new connections to the continent from 11 April when easyJet launches new flights to Faro and Marseille (easyJet.com).
