Jaisalmer Desert Festival celebrates Rajasthani culture from 23-25 February with music, dancing, camel racing and fire breathing. The sale and consumption of alcohol is to be banned in Ecuador around the presidential elections (15-18 February). Latest Foreign Office advice reports that anybody caught violating the law will be fined US$159/£99 (gov.uk/fco).

Brittany Ferries is launching a new route between Portsmouth and Le Havre. Services will operate from Thursday to Sunday, starting 17 May until 16 September, with a journey time of three hours 45 minutes (brittanyferries.com).
