Olympic blackout
Cruise line Fred Olsen promises no live TV sport – including the Olympics – on its four ships this summer, to preserve "a relaxing atmosphere" (fredolsen cruises.com).
Cuba caution
Eastern Cuba has seen a rise in gastro-intestinal diseases, including cholera, in the province of Granma. The FO advises "sensible precautions" on water, food and hygiene.
One step closer
Access to Adelaide gets much easier from 1 November, when the South Australian capital joins the Emirates route network from Dubai, with good connections from six UK airports. Return fares in November are around £1,000. (emirates.com).

The 20th New York "Restaurant Week" starts on Monday. It's actually a 25-day food fest, with hundreds of eateries such as Nobu in TriBeCa offering a three-course lunch menu for $24 (£16), and dinner at $35 (£23), weekdays until 10 Aug (nycgo.com).
Light luxury
Western & Oriental has a new "light" collection of four- and five-star hotels at more affordable prices. They include the Aphrodite Hills Resort, Cyprus, where a week in a one-bed apartment starts at £299pp, excluding flights (wandotravel.com/light).
Passage to India
A lifestyle store selling Indian art and crafts has opened at the Taj, 51 Buckingham Gate in Victoria, central London. The Taj Khazana sells jewellery, pashminas, art and homeware (51-buckinghamgate.com).
