This week...
The fourth Tate Triennial kicks off on Tuesday with Altermodern at Tate Britain in London. Curated by the co-founder of Paris's Palais de Tokyo, the exhibition will showcase new contemporary British and international art (tate.org.uk). And in the Canadian capital of Ottawa, the annual Winterlude Festival starts on Friday, complete with the Unesco-listed Rideau Canal ice skating rink (canadascapital.gc.ca).

New neighbourhood tours of Chicago include a drive past President Obama's Kenwood home on the Hyde Park and Kenwood tour; Polish Chicago; and the Land of Lincoln, celebrating the president's bicentennial (chicagoneighborhoodtours.com). Decadence hits the Turkish coast at Antalya next month when the Mardan Palace resort (mardanpalace.com) opens. On 19 February 'Shah Abbas: the remaking of Iran' opens at the British Museum in London(britishmuseum.org).
