Kick off

Journey Latin America has a special departure on 7 June 2014, for its Highlights of Brazil tour to tie in with the World Cup. It takes in Rio, Iguacu Falls, the Amazon, Salvador and Praia do Forte, arriving in Manaus for the group match on 14 June and Salvador for two games on 16 and 20 June. Manor reborn

Homewares retailer Laura Ashley has entered the hotel market with The Manor, a 49-room retreat in Hertfordshire (bit.ly/LATheManor).

Snow and rocks

In December, the Ibiza Rocks Group, which has hotels on the White Isle and Mallorca, is swapping sand for the slopes by opening the new Ibiza Rocks the Snow ski resort in Méribel (ibizarocks.com/snow).

The price, in sterling, of admission to Kew Gardens on a new late-afternoon "taster" ticket. Enter after 3.30pm until 8 September and the price is reduced from the normal £14.50 fare (kew.org).

Eastern address

On Monday, the 32-storey Pentahotel opens in the Kowloon area of Hong Kong. Designed for young travellers, it will offer 695 "New York loft style" guestrooms, free Wi-Fi, in-room smartphone docks and digital check-in. Hot hut

Kate Humble has launched the Humble Hideaway on her Welsh farm near Chepstow. The fully furnished shepherd's hut comes with a double bed and kitchenette; £80 (bit.ly/HumbleHut).
