Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Riviera renaissance

Today, the Hotel de Paris flings open its doors in St Tropez with a new look. The 1930s hotel has been completely redesigned and now sports a glittering, contemporary look with a rooftop, glass-bottom pool (with views from the atrium) and restaurant overseen by three-Michelin-starred chef Georges Blanc (www.hoteldeparis-sainttropez.com).

Mapped out

Pin your holiday snaps to their location on the Cork Board Map. The map allows you to create the world as you wish (£24.95; follyhome.co.uk).

Perils in Paris

The Foreign Office is warning travellers to be vigilant on RER trains in and around Paris. The warning follows an attack by a gang on a suburban train earlier this week, and assaults on line B, which serves Charles de Gaulle airport and the Gare du Nord (fco.gov.uk).

Spring into action

It might not feel like it, but spring has started. Celebrate at the Wild Spring Festival in Dumfries & Galloway from 29 March to 31 May (wildspringfestival.com).

Packing list

The Conran Shop launches a Holiday Shop online and in its London and Paris stores on Wednesday. The range includes sunglasses by Thierry Lasry, Sol de Janeiro sunscreen from Brazil, silk sarongs and swimwear, and BioLite camping stoves (conranshop.co.uk).

Great escape

A new travel website, Houdini's Muse, offers trip ideas and products. Featured tour itineraries include an Art Lovers' weekend in Marrakech for €399pp, flights extra (houdinismuse.com).

10

The number of ships that Viking River Cruises named this week in Amsterdam, setting a new record. Eight of the longships are new and will sail on the Rhine and Danube (vikingrivercruises.co.uk).

Take flight

Manu National Park, in the Peruvian Amazon, will be connected to Cusco by a new flight launching on Monday by Crees, a not-for-profit conservation organisation. The new route makes it easier to experience Crees' conservation tours in the park's biosphere reserve (crees-manu.org).
