From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. A woman who flew to Ibiza on a whim after drunkenly booking a flight has said the whole experience has cost her around £700.

Rachael Wynn, 32, from Manchester, arrived on the Balearic party island early on Monday morning having spontaneously booked a flight.

She had been drinking all day on Sunday at a christening, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Her friends were already in Ibiza, so she made a spur-of-the-moment decision to join them later that evening.

She arrived in Ibiza with just the clothes she was wearing and her bank card.

Ms Wynn stayed with friends in their hotel for the night and borrowed clothes from fellow holidaymakers.

After trying to catch a flight home on Tuesday, Ms Wynn is now due to fly back to Manchester today after having to explain her absence to her workplace.

The whole three-day trip is believed to have cost her around £700.

She told the newspaper that boarding the Jet2 plane at 2am on Monday morning was “a distant memory”.

“It’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever done,” she added.
