Aman Resorts launches its latest outpost, Amanera, in the Dominican Republic this autumn. Backed by jungle, the property is perched on a clifftop overlooking Playa Grande, on the north coast, with the Playa Grande Golf course next door. Accommodation will be in 25 free-standing casitas.
Go wild
ZSL has partnered with Exodus to launch its first wildlife holidays. The trips, costing from £1,029pp, will let travellers see animals in their natural habitat, with a portion of the profits going towards the society's work. Trips include orang-utan spotting in Borneo and searching for lions in Kenya.
History hol
Saga Holidays will run a special cruise next year to mark the centenary of the Battle of the Somme. The five-night Remembering the Somme itinerary aboard Saga Sapphire will sail to France for the anniversary on 1 July 2016, and will include tours of battlefields, memorials, and museums. Science camp
Butlin's has teamed up with the Science Museum and Aardman Animations to create The Astonishing Family Science Weekend. Taking place 18-21 September, Butlin's Minehead will put on science and technology themed events for children aged six-16, including experiments, space workshops, and model making.
Play time
Members of Marriott's Rewards loyalty scheme can now attend exclusive concerts for free at certain hotels. The promotion, part of a partnership with Universal Music Group, was launched this week by Ellie Goulding at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London. Further performances are to be announced soon.
Autumn break
Western & Oriental has launched a "Fall Foliage" collection of autumn breaks to the US. Included are fly-drive trips to Napa, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe in California; Nashville and Memphis in Tennessee; and New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts in New England. From £1,375pp.
Fringe benefit
New Edinburgh hotel 24 Royal Terrace opened its doors this week, just in time for the Fringe. The 16-room hotel recently underwent a £1m restoration during which its original Georgian features were restored. The hotel also has an extensive private art collection on show.
Hello Hungary
Wizz Air has launched new flights from Glasgow to Budapest – the first direct route between the two cities. The twice-weekly service (departing Tuesday and Saturday) will operate year-round. And on 15 September the no-frills airline will start flying to the Hungarian capital from Birmingham.
