From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Encouraging holidaymakers to try something new and embrace the “nakation”, the collection will include a selection of deals from leading operators including Tui, The Holiday Place, LoveHolidays, Very Holidays and Exclusive Trips.
The collection is “specifically designed for naturists, nudists, swingers and other free spirits embracing body positivity”, according to icelolly.com.
“We are constantly looking at ways to improve our holiday and deals offering,” said Claire Willoughby, product director.
“Naturist, nude and hedonistic holidays were seen as quite niche in the past, but it is a rapidly growing sector, which is why we are giving it its own dedicated collection.”
Holidays include an all-inclusive package to Temptation Resort, a “playground for grown-ups” in Cancun; Hedonism II, an “exotic, adults-only” resort in Jamaica; and Desire Resort and Spa, an “adults-only playground” in Mexico.
The holiday sector for naturists has been steadily expanding over the last few years.
A new Airbnb-style booking site was launched last year to help naturist travellers find private holiday rentals that would welcome nudists.
NaturistBnB was started by Finnish couple Petri and Minna Karjalainen and lists over 200 properties worldwide, with new holiday rentals added every day.
Listings include a North London sofa bed, a Valencia B&B with a clothes-free zone (you have to be dressed for breakfast) and a guesthouse in a gated nudist community in Indiana.
And in January 2018, a new tour operator launched in the UK offering “adult-only”, hedonistic holidays to cater for swingers and nudists.
According to the Uniquely Adult website, the tour operator “provides a selection of superior, sexually-stimulating, all-inclusive holidays to serve the needs of travellers who want to encounter a freer lifestyle when on their break".
The company offers a variety of packages starting at “entry level” and moving onto a “clothing-optional” holiday option. The “party package” is for those seeking a “discreet playground for adults to satisfy their sensual side”, while the “wild at heart” tour includes foam parties.
