Members of the InterContinental hotels loyalty program are to be offered the chance to snap up last-minute hotel deals on points, the company announced August 1.

Described as a first for the hotel industry, Last Minute Rewards will offer Priority Club members the chance to redeem hotel nights for 50 percent fewer points than they would otherwise be offered at.

The promotion will be valid at nearly 90 select hotels around the world, including properties in popular holiday destinations such as Orlando, Florida; Berlin; Paris; Shanghai; Bangkok; and Seoul.

However, guests can only redeem Last Minute Reward Nights on the first full weekend of every month, considerably reducing the flexibility of the program - this month, for example, the offer is valid for stays August 5 through 7 only.

For travelers who need more flexibility, Ritz-Carlton is also offering a summer points promotion offering 30,000 bonus points to holidaymakers registered with Ritz-Carlton Rewards.

Guests must register for the program before August 15 and stay for four more consecutive nights before September 9 to receive the 30,000 bonus, which can be used to pay for free stays, spa treatments, golf and other experiences.
